Dear Readers,
I have been deeply curious about self awareness and self connection since college years, maybe because I was pushed away from my center early on.
The journey to my center felt like taking 10,000 baby steps back. It is a constant discovery.
I am a Muslim, Arab-American, and Palestinian woman and a mother of five children. Whoo, I survived a lot.
Journalism is my calling that started whispering after finishing my bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. It keeps coming back whenever life distracts me.
A professional bio of me looks like this:
Hanan Daqqa is an independent multimedia journalist in Northern Virginia with a background in science and filmmaking, and adjunct faculty at George Washington University. Her stories have appeared in The Lily, Washington Parent and the Fairfax County Times, among other publications.
InshaAllah (God willing), I will be posting either a writing or a podcast every Saturday. I will be writing about self connection and self awareness. What it means to be a woman and a Muslim. Why now? I am getting really closer to who I am. A writer.
If you find my journey inspiring, you can support my writing in different ways: subscribing to my writing, sharing your honest feedback or investing in my published books: a children book,We Live in a Car, and a poetry book, Love in Two Languages. They were published overseas (Lebanon and Egypt) and I am working on having them on Amazon soon.
